Development History
Micro Systems Consulting was intially
formed in 1988 when doing consulting work for Digital Land Management, which had
a contract to provide software to Mobil Oil Exploration and Production. Some of
the products written for Mobil included a Royalty
Valuation system and various import, export and conversion programs. In 1991
a ACH editor was written for T. E. Lott to
provide data to their AS400 based NACHA management system. Federal Lease Check was developed in
partnership with Petroleum Information to manage PI data on Federal lands.
In 1993 development moved to the Windows platform with a pipeline lease manager called LandBase written for Chevron Pipeline, Eastern Division. Scanned lease documents, tied to each lease entry enabled attorneys to do research from their PC without needing bulky documents from the file room. A unique product at the time called WaterMark was used to attach annotated copies of these documents to emails.
Smiles was written for Advanced Medical Systems of Kenner, LA to help dentists upload Medicare dental claims electronically. The same year ClubBase was developed for Archie Manning's Golds Gyms through Laserfile International to manage club memberships and electronically bill membership fees. The output of this program was pure NACHA and was developed in cooperation with FNB of Jackson, MS.
In 1994 as a direct employee of Dow Jones Markets, various real-time market data, multi-threaded programs were written for the Dow Jones Workstation. The DJCF server provided quote data from 55 world-wide commodity exchanges with 15 news wires and historical price data. Various programs were written to store market data in SQL databases such as TickerDB, DJCFSRV and the Dow Jones Composite Feed Server that wrote all 35 news wires with headlines and stories to a SQL Server database. Other programs developed were EuroConvert that converted all historical chart data to Euro currency on the eve of December 31, 1999.
When Bridge Information Systems purchased Dow Jones Markets, I was tasked with converting the Daktronics price display on the Morgan Stanley building in Times Square to use the Bridge data feed and to drive the news ticker from a specific web page. Some of the enhancements I added were to support gainers/losers and colored price tick arrows. Also added was the ability for the news ticker program to inject a user defined headline when needed. Another project involved adding foriegn language support to the headline and news story readers for both older applications and newer ActiveX controls. Reuters, Bridge and Dow Jones used different encoding methods according to the data feed and display problems had to be worked out between Windows versions.
In 2000 MSC started contract work for BankTEL Systems of Columbus, MS by writing a Shareholder Management system. This program managed stock certificates, dividends and provided various reports. BTUpdater was developed to provide a method for any program to be updated over the web by comparing the timestamp of the latest version on the web to the version currently running. BankTELImaging Suite was intially developed to scan coupons and checks using Wise-IP on the NCR family of scanners but was later upgraded to use the Ranger API and Canon hardware. Support for various OCR API's was added such as findOCR, Mitek, Orbograph and Charactell. A unique feature allows for custom verification, conversion and export routines using dynamically loaded dll's according to database entries per customer. The dll's can be be added and updated without affecting the main program. BTImaging has the capability of printing checks and coupons in various layouts, exporting data as X9-37 batches and uploading data to various databases. The X937 output optionally creates a deposit ticket for the batch and has a built-in data viewer. The stand-alone utility for print, find, export and archiving can be burned to a CDROM with data to provide a customer with a snapshot of their data covering a defined time period.
